The Road Construction.

 

In world history,the roads were very important for politics and economic development such as the roads to Rome and the Silk Road.
In Japan, the old Nakasendo highway was also a very important roadlinking Edo (Tokyo) with Kyo (Kyoto)

Full scale road preparation began in the Edo period of Japanese history.
The Shougun Ieyasu Tokugawa who began the Edo government, constructured the old Tokaido highway along the Pacific Ocean as a main road from Edo (Tokyo) to Kyo (Kyoto). When it was complete, they began to construct four more highways. Now they are called the "FiveOldHighways."
